i took rose to the vet today~ of course pretty much the first thing the doctor says is “corn snakes are prone to tumors- a lot of lipomas but also really nasty cancers”

did some x rays on her to see and the most concerning lump is a very self contained bubble that was pressing into her body cavity pretty far (which explains her lack of appetite). doc also biopsied various masses and most of them were lipomas but the big lump apprently was filled with a lot of blood so we think it’s from some kind of trauma? i can’t imagine where she would have hurt herself since i always supervise her feeding and such but i guess i missed something. still waiting on lab results for her bloodwork though so we can rule out cancer for sure. but the fact that it basically just drained blood is actually really relieving because it’s pretty unlikely to be cancer!

this whole thing is really reminding me how old she is though… typical lifespan for a corn snake is about 10 years and she’s 7-8… i’ve had her since i was like 10 or 11, i dont know what im gonna do when she’s gone :(
